At
Scenic Nursery, we have three levels of design services for you to
choose from, that will fit any budget.
The first level is a 10-15 minute meeting with one
of our Certified NH Landscape Professionals. This is a free service
as long as you provide some pictures of the site to be landscaped,
including general measurements of the area and the site's orientation
to the sun (i.e. North, South, East or West). Additionally, you
should make a list of plants that appeal to you. We will then consult
with you for a short period of 10-15 minutes and give you some basic
design criteria.
The second level includes everything from level one, and
may be provided via email if preferred. We also ask that you provide
a simple graph paper plan of the existing measurements. The more
information we have, the better we will be able to serve your needs.
Magazine cutouts of the elements of landscapes you would like to
ultimately have would also be beneficial. In 1-2 weeks, depending
on the workload of the designers, you will receive a phone call
or email to come to the Nursery and review your plan. At this point,
you may make a deposit for placement on our schedule to do the installation,
or you can install yourself. The cost for this service is $400.00,
paid in advance. For this $400.00, you will receive the plan and
a gift certificate for $300.00 to be used towards plant purchases
and/or services if you choose for us to do the installation.
The third level is a Master Plan and requires a higher level
of detailed information for you to provide to us.
- A
site plan, which may have been provided when your house was built,
including orientation to the sun, or at least a graph paper drawing
and measurements.
- Magazine
cutouts, pictures, books, etc., showing us all the elements you
are interested in having, such as a hot tub, pool, statuary, fences,
barbecue pits, or putting greens (or anything else you can think
of!)
- Pictures
of the site, near and far.
After all this information has been compiled, we will meet in our
Resource Room at the Nursery for about an hour. The first 30 minutes
will be spent discussing your landscape wishes, landscaping budget,
and other important details. Basically, we are going to talk about
you and what you want. During the second half hour, we will show
you what we can do through our extensive portfolio. We are not going
to design anything at this meeting. By the end of the meeting, or
within 1-2 days, we will price a detailed Master Plan and estimate
for your project. If you choose to accept the fee, we will put you
on our design schedule immediately. Timing of completion of this
design will depend on the scope of the project, usually two weeks.
If you wish to expedite the process and be put on the installation
schedule at this time, a 10% deposit of the project's rough estimated
cost is required.
Tips for all levels:
Pictures - when taking pictures to aid in your design, try
to take shots from far enough away to get a "feel" for the site.
In addition, take pictures close up. Pictures of the outskirts of
the site are also helpful. This allows for a design that incorporates
the surroundings.
Graph Measurements - a graph paper or sketch of the shape
of the house or bed area with general sizes rounded up to feet,
not inches. This helps keep the design elements proportionate to
the site. For your convenience, we are available to come do the
site measurements for you, for a minimum fee of $75.00 plus travel
time.
Plant list - include plants and embellishments that appeal
to you. Do not design in your selection. Do not consider size, shape,
cultural requirements, or color clashing. This list is to help us
understand your tastes. We will consider all details associated
with your choices and we may or may not use all these plants, depending
on their appropriateness to your site.
Onsite consultation and/or site analysis for measuring, etc.
has an expense and can be provided to you at an additional charge
of $75.00 per hour, plus travel time. In order to save money, we
encourage our customers to do as much of the general preliminary
analysis as possible. The money saved is better utilized for the
actual plants and construction costs. When we have been engaged
by you with a commitment to hiring us, we will certainly do our
due diligence, making sure all the analysis has been properly done
to ensure a smooth and cost effective installation.
Deposits are not refundable! They are set up to hold
a quote's price and to hold a position on our schedule. If a potential
project is cancelled, especially close to the start date, it can
significantly disrupt our schedules and also require restocking
items, as well as cancelling other commitments to our suppliers,
etc.
